J1772

J1772 is the SAE standard connector for Level 1 and Level 2 AC charging in North America. Most portable Level 1 cords have a household plug on one end and a J1772 connector on the other.

The Department of Energy notes that Level 1 and Level 2 equipment use the same J1772 connector, and that Tesla vehicles come with a J1772 adapter so they can use non-Tesla Level 2 stations. The CCS plug adds two DC pins below the J1772 shape for fast charging.
