Level 1 Charging

Level 1 charging is EV charging from a standard 120 volt AC outlet, usually with the portable cord that comes with the car. It needs no extra equipment or installation.

The Department of Energy's Alternative Fuels Data Center says Level 1 adds about 5 miles of range per hour, assuming 1.9 kW, and that 8 hours at 120 volts can replace about 40 miles for a mid-size EV.
